We always had a tradition with our family to have smoked salmon on fresh baguettes every New Years along with my favorite paschuba salad. It brings back so many memories, the smoked salmon is a perfect balance between rich and fresh. It pairs beautifully with the crunch of freshly baked baguette, while creamy spreads and bright toppings bring everything together.

Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • 1 fresh baguette
  • 200g smoked salmon
  • 150g cream cheese (plain or herbed)
  • Fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Capers (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice

Instructions:

  • Slice the Baguette: Cut the baguette into even slices, about 1-2 cm thick. Lightly toast if you prefer extra crunch.
  • Prepare the Spread: In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese with lemon juice and a pinch of black pepper.
  • Assemble the Bites: Spread a generous layer of cream cheese onto each slice of baguette.
  • Add the Smoked Salmon: Gently layer slices of smoked salmon on top.
  • Top It Off: Garnish with red onion, capers if desired. And fresh dill.
  • Serve Immediately: Best enjoyed fresh while the baguette is still crisp.
