This timeless recipe is so simple, nourishing, and packed with tender chicken, and perfectly cooked noodles in a flavorful broth.

You will never want to go back to packaged noodle soups from the grocery store once you’ll try this recipe. You will be surprised that this noodle soup only exists of a handful of ingredients, it’s budget friendly and loved by so many people. My toddler loves chicken noodle soup and can eat a huge bowl of it. Whether you’re making it for your family or prepping meals for the week, this homemade soup is always satisfying and freezes very well.

Ingredients You’ll Need:

- 1 whole chicken
- 1 medium onion, peeled
- salt
- pepper
- bay leaf
- chicken soup mix seasoning
- water
- egg noodles
Instructions on How to Make Chicken Noodle Soup:
- Make the broth: Wash and dry the whole chicken, place it in a large pot and fill it 3/4 full of water over high heat. Periodically skimming off any foam that rises to the top. Season with salt, pepper, and chicken soup mix. Peel a medium onion and add it to the pot along with 1 bay leaf.
- Cook the chicken: Bring to gentle boil/simmer and cook for 45 minutes.
- Cook the noodles: In a separate pot cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until tender. It only takes 3 minutes to cook these fine noodles. Drain and add to the chicken pot.
- Season and serve: Season to taste, serve hot and enjoy!
