Creamy Mashed Potatoes

(Thermomix version)

Print Recipe Jump to Recipe

If you own a Thermomix, mashed potatoes become incredibly easy and consistently creamy. What fascinated me the most was that the potatoes get boiled in milk instead of water. I think that is the secret to creamy mashed potatoes.

This method is perfect for busy weeknights, holidays or side dishes such as my favorite Beef Pot Roast. See below for recipe. The Thermomix blends the potatoes so smooth without you needing to do anything. You can simple let the potatoes cook and walk away. The consistency turns out everytime packed full of flavor and just the right amount of salt and butter.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe:

  • Ultra creamy and fluffy texture
  • Made with simple pantry ingredients
  • Easy enough for beginners
  • Perfect for holidays or everyday meals
  • Customizable with garlic, herbs or cheese
  • No draining required – the potatoes absorb the liquid in the bowl so you can skip the draining step
  • One bowl – you can cook and mash all inside the bowl of the Thermomix so there are a fewer dishes to clean.

Ingredients You Will Need for the Creamy Mashed Potatoes:

  • 1000g of starchy potatoes (I use the ones from my garden)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 30g Butter
  • 330ml Milk

Step by Step Instructions:

  1. Insert butterfly whisk. Place cubed (5mm) potatoes, salt and milk in mixing bowl then cook 30-35 minutes/95C/speed 1 until cooked.

2. Add butter then mash 30 sec/speed 3. Remove butterfly whisk and continue to mash until creamy and smooth texture.

Tips:

  • Check that potatoes are very tender before mashing. If they still seem firm, cook for the additional 5 minutes.
  • If you prefer a more liquid puree, add 100g of milk to step 2.
  • If you prefer Italian-style potato puree use only 1/2 teaspoon of salt in step 1, and add 30g grated Parmesan cheese in step 2.
  • The easiest mashed potato recipe. Use floury potatoes or from your vegetable garden.

Have Leftovers?

I love to repurpose leftover mashed potatoes to make my mashed potato perogies. See recipe below. Leftover potatoes also keep well in the refrigerator or freezer for longer storage.
