German Schoko Kirschkuchen
(Chocolate Cherry Cake Thermomix version)
Soft, fluffy, and irresistibly creamy, this German-inspired vanilla sheet cake is the perfect dessert for gatherings, birthdays, coffee dates, or weekend baking. Made with a light vanilla sponge base, filled with cherries, topped with silky cream frosting, and finished with rich chocolate drizzle, every bite is smooth, sweet, and comforting.

This Schoko Kirschkuchen resembles a German Donauwelle, this style of cake is especially popular in European kitchens because it’s simple to make, easy to slice for a crowd, and tastes even better chilled. I made a Thermomix version of this recipe but if you don’t own a Thermomix you can simple use your electric hand mixer. And your stove top to do the chocolate ganache.

Why You’ll Love This Cake:
- Soft and airy vanilla cake base
- Smooth creamy topping
- Rich chocolate drizzle made from scratch for the perfect finish
- Great for potlucks and family gatherings

The Flavor
The cake itself is lightly sweet and buttery, while the creamy topping adds richness without being too heavy. The dark chocolate drizzle that is made from scratch, balances everything with a slightly bittersweet finish that makes the dessert feel elegant yet comforting.
